Applying Inter-American Human Rights Standards to Government Use of AI
Livestream Discussion with Q&A
Tuesday, October 15 at 10:00 am PT/1:00 pm ET
(Check Local Time)

We are excited to invite you to join EFF in the launch of our new report on government use of AI and Inter-American Human Rights Standards. We'll discuss what countries in the region should consider as public institutions decide whether and how to implement algorithmic systems for determinations that affect people's lives and rights. We'll talk about current challenges, and which guarantees we can leverage to face them, considering that most of States in the Americas have taken up commitments before the Inter-American Human Rights System.

Key questions are:
- What does transparency mean in government use of AI, and which obligations unfold from access to information and due process guarantees?
 - Which human rights standards can we explore to craft meaningful social participation in this context?
 - What are crucial components of human rights impact assessments for government use of AI and why carrying them out is a duty of state bodies?
 - What should be in place before deploying algorithmic-based systems for States' decisions that affect human rights?
 - What are the redlines States must consider before ruling out nonlegitimate uses?
 - And more.

When: October 15 (Tuesday), at 1pm EDT/ 11am CST/ 5pm UTC (check your time zone here). The session will be approx. 1h30/1h40 long.
